Program Coordinator Community Based Programs

Under the general supervision of the Senior Director, the Program Coordinator of Community Bases Programs, will engage with unhoused individuals to coordinate a low barrier, temporary daytime shelter and resources for those individuals that present and qualify for the program. The schedule must be flexible; some shift coverage and on call coverage will be required to meet the needs of the program. The Wellness Center Manager will also be responsible for hiring, training and staff development.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manage efforts of the staff and volunteers for Community Based Programs.
  2. Coordinate schedule, staff, filling in for shift coverage depending upon the needs of the facility. Some on call.
  3. Coordinate self-serve meals and drinks for presenters. Inventory and stock products.
  4. Promote Recovery Options Community Based Programs throughout the County.
  5. Attend community events, hire events and training.
  6. Collect demographic data at presenters' arrival, provide resources available in the County upon their departure. Prepare reports as necessary for Funders, reporting systems and the agency.
  7. Help with scheduling and community calendar upkeep. This may include emergency shift coverage.
  8. Determine staffing requirements, assist interviews, hire and training new employees, or oversee personnel processes. Review turnovers to maintain agency standards and assist with performance appraisals.
  9. Maintains inventory of supplies and prepares purchase orders for needed items.
  10. Supervisory responsibilities as assigned by Director including timecard and time off approvals.
  11. Help oversee all services provided with Community Based Programs.
  12. Collaborate with partnering agencies.
  13. Community engagement.
  14. Facilitate outreach within the community and work directly with staff on continued community support.
  15. Responsible for building and maintaining referral relationships that facilitate guest stay at a sufficient capacity to support the fiscal needs of the program.
  16. Maintains vehicle and facility maintenance as needed.
  17. Maintains own personal wellness.

Works from general objectives (such as governmental and agency compliance standards) and broad and varying policies, procedures, rules or precedents with significant functional guidance. Refers specific cases to supervisor for clarification or interpretation. Review by supervisor focuses on achievement of the objective and not necessarily on the means, except when required to ensure compliance with regulations.

TECHNOLOGY, EQUIPMENT OR TOOLS:

Microsoft Office skills including Excel, Word and Outlook.  Evidence of skills demonstrated by the ability to perform all of the basic functions within each program; including but not limited to maintaining a calendar, sending e-mail, creating letters as well as the ability to create and edit workbooks. General office equipment is used including fax machine, computer, and phone systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work follows established practices and operating procedures with some latitude for independent judgment.  Maintains strict visual contact with work up to 90% of the time.  May occasionally lift up to (35) thirty-five pounds without mechanical assistance.  Work involves sitting, driving, and ambulating from task to task. The noise level in the work environment is usually light.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Arts Degree in Human Services, or related field and one (1) year of experience providing community mental health services and one year of supervisory experience.

Or

  • Associate's Degree in Human Services or related fields and two (2) years' experience providing community mental health services and one year of supervisory experience. 

Or

  • High School Diploma or GED and three (3) years' experience providing community mental health services, and minimum of one year Supervisory experience.

And

  • Completion of a peer advocacy training program or related certification is preferred.  Academy of Peer Services Certification must be completed within the employees first 3 months in this position if the employee is not currently certified.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to get immunizations in accordance with Psychiatric Center's regulations.
  • Must have a valid Class D Driver License, reliable transportation and automobile insurance. 
  • Must have had active participation in mental health self-help activities, peer support or peer advocacy programs or recipient-run organizations or similar experiences or programs. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  General knowledge of participant benefits, governmental processes, participant rights, case management, and operations of the agency.

  Knowledge of peer-operated and peer recovery programs; ability to employ principles of recovery.

  Ability to assertively advocate for participants and negotiate with service providers.?  Ability to establish trusting supportive relationships with participants that are formed within the context of Agency philosophy.

  Ability to listen and demonstrate understanding and empathy to provide clear feedback to participants' verbal and non-verbal communication (coaching and connecting skills).

  Ability to respond to de-escalate crises.

  Knowledge of cultural competence and ability to demonstrate sensitivity to working with participants from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

  Ability to interact with individuals and general public at all levels of the organization; communicating with respect and clarity.

  Ability to work independently and as part of a team with within the context of Agency philosophy and in accordance with all agency policies, procedures and guidelines.

  Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, time management and organizational skills.

  Ability to maintain a mobile office with the use of cell phone/tablet and laptop.

  Must possess advocacy skills, attention to detail, and documentation skills.

  Must have an understanding and working knowledge of confidentiality laws regarding participant records and personal/health information.

  Must be proficient in MS Word/Excel, internet and Outlook e-mail.

  Ability to handle challenging situations with tact, diplomacy, and confidence.

  Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.

  Ability to plan and prioritize to achieve a defined objective.

Wage Range:  $25.00 per hour for a 37.5 hour work week and a 75 hour bi weekly pay date
